The Role
Tesla is seeking a dynamic and creative Environmental Engineer to join the Global Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Team and support the operational Environmental and Sustainability related topics at the Gigafactory Berlin for vehicle, powertrain, and construction. Reporting to the Associate Environmental Lead at the Gigafactory, his or her core responsibilities are: Environmental Management System, environmental reporting (internal and external), steering and coordinating environmental contractors.

This position will also serve as an interface function as he or she will work closely with relevant stakeholders to organize environmental KPIs collection and report creation. The role will also be responsible for implementation and action tracking of improvement projects, and corrective actions.

Was zu tun ist

• Further develop, control and maintain the Environmental Management System to improve environmental performance
• Steer and organize the legally required environmental reporting in different environmental areas, e.g. emissions, waste, water, events and incidents
• Set the structure and ensure environmental reporting as required by all compliance obligations including legal and permit requirements as well as internal requirements
• Establish, implement, control and maintain documentation necessary for planning and operation of the Environmental Management System
• Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental aspects to assess and rank risks, drive implementation of risk reduction plans, and subsequent performance evaluation
• Set up and maintain environmental dashboard in close interdisciplinary cooperation for monitoring of KPIs, and ensuring internal reporting to enable stakeholders implement continual improvement
• Develop presentations, overviews, and management summaries to communicate KPIs, environmental legal and permit compliance, and project progress in leadership meetings to serve as a basis for management decisions
• Coordinate external consultants and ensure that improvement actions and concepts will be implemented through systematic action tracking and on-site inspections
• Conduct and/or support incident analysis and drive corrective actions

• Interface with regulatory authorities and oversee regulatory inspections including pre and post-processing of authority visits

Was mitzubringen ist

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science or a closely related EHS discipline; alternatively, the equivalent in experience.
• 2+ years of work experience in developing and maintaining Environmental Management Systems within large manufacturing operations and/or construction projects
• Qualified Environmental Management System Specialist
• Strong technical knowledge and excellent communication skills

• Fluent in German and English (verbal and written)
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
