To help us achieve this quest, we are looking for a Sustainability Manager Climate to drive the sustainability topic of GHG reduction (scope 3) for Clariant at corporate level – a topic comprising the full product portfolio of Clariant. You will develop a climate strategy, define relevant KPI’s and support the Clariant businesses in translating the climate strategy into business roadmaps.

This role is available in Pratteln (Switzerland), Munich (Germany) or Frankfurt/Main (Germany).


  • Responsible for developing and monitoring agreed scope 3 emission reduction initiatives and targets and report on the organisation’s progress towards Net Zero.
  • Act as Clariant’s lead specialist and knowledge advisor in matters relating to scope 3 emission and life cycle analysis
  • Develop and promote evidence based technical policy, standards and methodology (LCA & PEF), and provide specialist guidance on carbon footprint topics
  • Monitor key changes in legislation and policy and identify any impacts. Shape the organization’s view on climate impacts to ensure risks are mitigated/opportunities considered
  • Collaborate proactively and effectively across different units within the company for scope 3 reduction initiatives, carbon footprint accounting & reporting, tools and system development
  • Represent Clariant in external trade associations, sustainability bodies and and build a strong network of external stakeholders
  • Provide business support for customer requests and equip the organization with capabilities to position Clariant externally on all different levels of communication – e. g. product marketing, conferences etc.
  • Support procurement and different business units in verifying supplier data and in scope 3 reduction project pipeline.
  • Drive cross-functional team in matrix organization of procurement and business responsibles.


  • Master’s degree in science, chemistry, chemical engineering or environmental resource management.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in industry, sustainable development and other management systems.
  • Profound LCA expertise and knowledge.
  • Persuasiveness in your stakeholder management and passion for the subject across all hierarchical levels.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English.
  • Independent and self-motivated character, experienced in leading without formal reporting line.
